The Rojo Way2019-01-25T14:02:26-06:00

The Rojo Way is one of the signature programs in Rosa Es Rojo. Thanks to The Rojo Way, Rosa Es Rojo can make wellness and cancer prevention accessible for the Latinas living in America by training them on the topics of nutrition, physical activity, emotional health and positive thinking.

The Rojo Way consists on 20 hours of direct training, shared 100% in Spanish because we know that language appropriate outreach and an effective communication within the Latino community can save many lives when we are talking about cancer and other chronic diseases. The concept behind The Rojo Way is innovative since it has been designed using the Accelerated Learning (AL) Methodology, based on how we naturally learn: a total learner involvement (activity based), collaboration among learners (social interaction) and contextual learning (real-world immersion).

The Rojo Way focus on clarity and simplicity. We bring Spanish content and information together that is most often times disperse, spread everywhere and in English. We share it in a clear and simple way. Positive psychology helps us to reinforce positive messages. We focus in on possible solutions, emphasizing the importance of understanding what can be controlled. Most of the valuable resources provided by our competitors are not specific to our target market.

We are focusing on women due to the potential reach that Latinas have among their families and communities. The effects of a positive and healthy outlook on life are contagious and go beyond matters of health. We want our participants to feel empowered enough to make conscious health decisions. Thanks to The Rojo Way, we are the possibility of reducing by 50% the incidence of cancer among Latinas in North Texas by 2030.

What are the steps in The Rojo Way?

See below an infographic that better explains how The Rojo Way is implemented:

  • Latino women come from word of mouth, social media, partners. They can be confused and overwhelmed due to the information out there regarding wellness and prevention; information that is in English and not always can be understood by them.

  • Scholarship evaluation through our partners. ** Matching scholarships are encouraged with our partners.

  • Evaluation #1: “Where do you stand?”. It is a written questionnaire.

  • 4 On-site workshops: 16 hours of direct training on the topics of nutrition, positive thinking, emotional health and physical activity. The names of these on-site workshops are:

    1. Nutrition in your favor
    2. Emotions in your favor
    3. Thoughts in your favor
    4. SuperViving Resolutions
  • Evaluation #2: This is a written questionnaire and we measure the main changes after workshops. “How is your life changing?”

  • Pay It Forward Initiative: “You can make a difference!”. We offer our participants the opportunity to share their love thanks to cash donations, in-kind donations, networking or as volunteers within our programs. This is totally voluntary.

  • 4 one-on-one support sessions: 1 hour each. A team member of Rosa Es Rojo will continue to support the Latinas. They will be using the Plan of Action that participants built during the last session of the one-on-one support session.

  • Technological support thanks to:

    1. Red Line: support line and office hours (in development)
    2. Groups via TXT, using REMIND app. Participants send a txt to 81010 with the phrase: @supervivir They will be part of the SuperVivors group and we weekly share content regarding wellness and prevention. It has been a great way to interact.
    3. Downloaded guides from our website
    4. Digital blog
    5. Online education, vía social media
    6. Support groups (in development)
    7. Conferences
